Pastor's Update

From Rev. Jenni

Mid Week Update 11-27-20

July 22, 2020

I hope that you are doing well in the midst of this ongoing COVID situation. We were able to enjoy several weeks of meeting together in person. Then we briefly stopped in-person gatherings because a few folks tested positive, including myself. I am happy to report that all those we knew of are now doing better. Our Administrative Board met on Tuesday, July 21st to discuss going back to in person worship and to start planning what the Fall might look like.

Here are the upcoming plans about meeting in person:

  • Sunday morning worship will be offered in-person beginning on Sunday, July 26th.
  • Wednesday night Adult bible study will remain online tonight (July 22nd) with plans to offer it in-person the following week.
  • The Youth have elected to meet on-line on Sunday and Wednesday nights.
  • Regular Wednesday night activities (youth/kids/nursery aged/ adults) will tentatively begin after Labor Day. This will allow the kids to begin school and settle into a new rhythm.

We continue to urge that the following precautions be taken for all in-person gatherings:

  • If you are in a vulnerable group (the elderly, those with pre-existing conditions, etc.) we encourage you to do only what you are comfortable with and to consider joining us virtually.
  • If you have been exposed to anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19 we ask that you do not attend until you are certain you do not.
  • Please continue to monitor your temperature and other symptoms, including loss of smell or taste, and do not attend if you have any symptoms.
  • We will continue to provide hand sanitizer and masks for those who do not have them. Please be considerate of others and take precautions.
  • Remember to sit at least 6 feet from those not in your household (pews are marked) and enjoy chatting, with those who desire to, outside. I know this is an important part of congregational life and we can do it more safely in the parking lot.
  • We are planning to try and dismiss folks by each side so there is not any congestion when exiting.

I cannot thank each of you enough for your prayers and continued financial support of the church. This has been a very difficult situation for everyone, but Bethel has been very supportive and loving as we navigate our way through this. I am thankful for each of you and thankful that we have technology that allows us to gather when we cannot do so in person. But I am most thankful for the Holy Spirit which always binds us together. Thank you for taking the words of Ephesians 4:1-6 to heart.

God Bless,

Rev. Jenni
